About

My name is Zina Smirny. I was born and educated in Russia, receiving a master’s degree in economics from the NSU, one of top three Russian schools present in top ratings. While still in Russia, I enjoyed such creative pursuits as pottery and photography. One of my shots won a prize in a nationwide photo contest.

My family came to live in NJ more than 30 years ago. While working as a computer programmer I always tried to find some time to enjoy artistic pursuits.  Now I has fully immersed herself into painting. I studied visual art for several years. I like to bring out all the brightness and contrasts of the world surrounding me, and in the same time it’s unbelievable pleasure to show tender, delicate side of it.  I paint from life, sometimes use photographs, but mostly use my imagination, often bringing all of these aspects into one image, using elements of both realism and abstraction.

I shown my work in many venues and has won awards. My works of art could be found in private collections in the US and abroad. I has been invited to X and XI Editions of the Florence Biennale at Fortezza da Basso, Florence, Italy.

I would appreciate it very much if you leave your comments on my paintings.

Almost all my paintings are for sale, the price could be negotiable. The giclée prints are available.

Thanks for your time,

Zina

  1. Зина! Мне очень понравилась твоя работа жаль что только она одна попробую поискать еще другие или жду следующих фотографий.

  2. Dear Zina

I am an assistant curator and my job is to pre-select artists whom I believe are talented enough to submit art for “International Contemporary Masters”, a leading juried annual art publication presenting noteworthy artists from all over the world.

I visited your portfolio and I liked your work. I think your art has the potential to be presented in this high-quality publication.

Please note that inclusion in the book is not free. The concept of the publication is different.
The book is basically delivered for free and when we sell it, it is at a cost price so nobody makes money from sales.
We try to have a large distribution and the purpose of the book is to promote the artists in it. This is the reason the artists have to pay. Only artists that are up to the standards of our art committee are approved.
If you wish to apply, I can send you more information or you can visit: wwab.us/index.php/Masters-Application/ (add www. in front of the link)

To get an idea of the quality of our publications you can view our previous books on the same site under the link ‘Books’.

Each year we organize a large group exhibition for the artists appearing in this book, at the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Arts, which is located in Las Vegas. Contact us for more information.

  3. I’m inquiring whether you are the creator of an image of a toad that I’m going to try to attach below.
Nope. Didn’t attach. Let me try a URL.
    http://www.lasersaveinc.com/chuck/Toad-by-Zina.jpg
It’s a grand “portrait” of a self-possessed green & yellow toad against a dark green background. Found at Google. The 2 women that I’m working with/for commented: “Perfect!” and “I love this toad!”
We are hoping to adapt a toad like this to make a 1-color logo for a family get-away spot that will be called Camp Toad. A grandmother bought a few acres of woods land in northern Wisconsin, USA, and the larger family is combining to fix it up as a spot all the grandkids can learn about Nature. Not a big deal. Not a business.
If it is your toad, please let us know if you are open to our starting with this toad and seeing what we can do to render it in one color. Maybe conversion to a line drawing, maybe a posterization edited, who knows. Maybe more than one color.
    I invite your thoughts.
